Started in 2003 by the Institute of Human Virology (IHV), the JACQUES Initiative (which is short for the “Joint AIDS Community Quest for Unique and Effective Treatment Strategies”) is focused on facilitating greater access to HIV care in the Baltimore community. The JACQUES Initiative is committed to providing a ‘safe place’ for clients by offering a holistic approach to care, support services, and partnerships with the community.

The staff of the JACQUES Initiative program come from various fields, including medicine, research, nursing, pharmacy, testing, and community outreach. Approximately 20% of the JACQUES Initiative staff are living with HIV, providing an inspiration to patients that such a life is possible.
